Co-Director, Education Department

As an organizer, educator, and artist, Ren is deeply committed to transformation and migrant justice. Ren grew up in New Mexico and has lived in Arizona for 13 years. Experiences within international struggles for liberation in Tucson, New York City, Guatemala, México, and Maasailand, Kenya have profoundly influenced them. Ren graduated from Prescott College with a BA in Social Movement Studies and a MA in Social Justice and Human Rights. At Prescott College, Ren taught courses in US/Mexico Border Studies, Anti-Racist Organizing, Landscapes of Neoliberalism, and Art & Agency in the Borderlands.

Ren co-founded the Freedom Education Fund in 2014, a full ride scholarship for undocumented students at Prescott College. In 2016-2017, Ren conducted research on US involvement in global border militarization for Todd Miller’s book Empire of Borders. Starting in 2019, they supported the development of Keep Prescott Together, a Northern AZ deportation defense network.They've also led semi-rural Arizona faith-based justice organizing, field strategy for a State House electoral campaign, and participated in collaborative community murals. In 2019, they co-founded the Preskitt Drag Cabaret Troupe for queer and trans joy. Ren serves as co-chair on the board of the Unitarian Universalist Justice Arizona Network (UUJAZ). They're a poet, artist, and performer.
